Hey guys! Welcome back! I am here to give you a slight review on the new Jaclyn Hill palette from Morphe Brushes so lets get started shall we?
With this review I will be comparing it to her favorites palette that she did with Morphe a few years ago.
Well first off, when her favorites palette came out it was limited edition and was at the price of $35. Her palette I believe is permanent and at the price of $38.
Her palette is much bigger than her favorites palette. They are the same width but different height.
The packaging is completely different. Her favorites palette is the same as any other Morphe palette, black with simple font and logo. Her palette definitely stands out with the white and her signature in metallic font with logo.
On the back of her favorites palette, there is a picture of her (a very old picture lol) and a simple paragraph from Jaclyn talking about these shadows that she loves so much from Morphe. On the back of her palette, there is a mosaic of her (also slightly old, she is no longer a “redhead”) and those photos explain who she is btw. There is also a simple paragraph talking about the palette. On the bottom right corner there is a code (like any other Morphe palette) except they are her initials. Her palette has “JH2” because her favorites palette has “JH.”
So when you take the palettes out of the package, they are the same as the package (except the favorites which just has the Morphe logo like any other Morphe palette.)
When you turn them over, the favorites palette has just the code on the bottom right corner and her palette has her initials all over with “MORPHEXJACLYNHILL” in the middle. Not going to lie, I absolutely dislike this design. It just looks tacky and kiddish like. I think it would have been better with “MORPHEXJACLYNHILL” in the middle and her initials in the bottom right corner.
As you can tell, Jaclyn’s palette has a whole lot more eyeshadows than her favorites palette. But they are similar in a way. If you have followed Jaclyn for a while now then you know that she is a warm tone type of girl with a pop of color and both palettes give that.
Her favorites palette is just like any other Morphe palette, black and simple. While her palette is white and says “This palette is dedicated to all of my loving subscribers…xo Jaclyn.”
So here is a close up of her favorites palette. Sorry for the messiness, I do use this palette. I did not do any swatches because these are Morphe shadows that you can still get from them. I do not know what shadows they are though. But as you can see, the palette mostly holds warm tone shades with a few cool tone shades. There is a balance of shimmers and mattes.
So here is a close up of her palette. So beautiful and versatile that anyone can literally use this palette. You can make so many eye looks just using this palette alone. There is a great mixture of mattes and shimmers.
I only did a few swatches just so you guys can get an idea about the pigmentation and formula. On the left is a few of the shimmers and on the right is a few of the mattes. As you can see the pigment is amazing. That was from barely touching it and swirling my finger around like once.
So now that you have seen both her collaborations from Morphe here are my thoughts:
- Her palette can make more eye looks than her favorites palette can
- Her favorites palette is more “travel-friendly” than her palette
- Her palette speaks more on her level than her favorites palette
- Both were equally afforable
- Both have great pigmentation and formula
I just want to put this out there, her palette is great palette and perfect for EVERYONE from beginner to advanced. I know her palette is a big palette but I think this is perfect for travel since you can use this for any occasion and can even use the shimmers as a highlight. And for like $40 you get a lot.
There will always be drama when a youtuber gets involved with a major cosmetic company because that youtuber gets to live a dream that a lot of makeup lovers want. But you have to realize, that is several years in the making. Meaning, every youtuber has done their time on Youtube before making it big.
With that said, congrats Jaclyn! I have been following you for years and to see you grow and outgrow the hate and the bully you get everyday is truly inspirational. I am right where you are when you worked at MAC and couldn’t afford bills. But because of you, I know there is a silver lining and working hard now will pay off eventually.
Keep up your dream Jaclyn and good luck on your future endeavors!
*As of right now, her palette is sold out but I will update this when they restock! Here is the link to the website just in case you want to check them out:

So if you went to Coolirpa’s event (i have a post on this go check it out!) and you got a goodie bag then you got one of these bad boys. This is the Inkbox Freehand Ink kit. The kit includes their patent pending Formula 1S Freehand ink (10ml) in needle tip bottle/s, 1 black tattoo glove, 1 ethyl alcohol wipe, and inkstructions.
*Disclaimer: this is my own opinion so I will be completely honest even though this one was given to me
So first off, I didn’t get the alcohol wipe which is a shame but it isn’t a big deal since I washed my arm beforehand and I am the only one using the bottle.
Secondly, I went onto the website to check this out and this kit costs $18. But you can get a kit that comes with 2 bottles (20ml) instead of one for $25. They also have a 3 bottle kit (1oz) which costs $30. They also sell pre-designed tattoos ranging from $19-$25.
And finally, the ink itself. So I am a big Disney/Pixar CARS fan (It relates back to a childhood memory, posted about it on my Instagram) and I do want a tattoo of Lightning McQueen so I thought I would use this ink to see what it looked like. So for freehand you can use a surgical marker (I used a regular pen. Oops!) to design what you want and then go over it with the ink.
Now I will say that the first time you use it, it will have air bubbles which sucks because it did effect the end result. But all together this was easy to do. And I am sure you can perfect this problem over time. So I drew the Lightning McQueen emoji because it is so adorable. As you can see some parts are thicker than others. Mostly because of air bubbles and the fact that the needle isn’t thin enough to be able to go over and fix those areas.
After you are done, let it sit for an hour. On the website they have tips and tricks and one thing they recommend is to put your ink on an area that DOES NOT have grooves (such as your wrist). After the hour is over, wash it off with soap and water. DO NOT PEEL OFF! This is not henna ink.
As you can see, it looks very faint. The inkstructions say that it will fully develop in 12-24 hours.
So this is a couple hours later.
I can see where I didn’t put equal amounts of ink.
!2 hours later.
Very patchy. I tried to put the same amount of pressure when squeezing the bottle but the air bubbles really did ruin it.
And 24 hours later.
So final result isn’t fully black in some areas but it still looks good. It has been a couple days already and hasn’t changed the slightest. They did say it will last about 2 weeks. Of course that depends on you.
I think this idea is pretty cool. You can use the freehand ink to figure out whether you like a certain tattoo design and where you want to put it. And they have loads of pre-designed tattoos you can try which is awesome.
Altogether I really like this brand. I will have to play with it more to work around the air bubbles. I want to get a henna kit just so I can compare this inkbox kit to it. I give it a thumbs up and recommend it completely.

Hey guys! Sorry for the late post but I was finally able to publish this! So lets just get right into it shall we? If you do not follow April, a.k.a. COOLIRPA on social media, then you should go check her out before you read this. Links are down below:
So now that you have checked her out, what do you think? Super talented right??? I was so impressed with her work when I found her on YouTube. I am a big D.I.Y.er and want to make dapper outfits for my boyfriend and I for the Dapper Day this fall at the Disneyland Resort. She is a big inspiration for me and I am so glad I follow her.
Well April hit 1 million subscribers on YouTube and she put on an event for all her followers here in my hometown of Temecula, California. I was joyous because let me tell you…NOTHING goes on down here. Literally nothing. So when she announced that she was doing an event here I was ecstatic! To live so close to a YouTuber is pretty cool.
She threw her event at the Promenade Mall in the center of Temecula on June 17, 2017. She had amazing sponsors who were there giving away free stuff, food, henna tattoos, etc…Unfortunately it was extremely hot with barely any wind and shade. But either way it was so much fun. She started her event with a fashion show featuring the fashion club at her high school’s prom dress designs followed by her favorite transformations on her YouTube and 3 special transformations specific to her event.
After her fashion show, the D.I.Y. stations opened up instructed by the fashion club from her high school. There was a Build Your Own Jewelry station, a Learn How to Draw Your Designs station, and a Distress Denim station.
But what was great about this event is that April got her followers to get involved. This was no “Watch the fashion show, get a picture with her, then leave” kind of event. April obtained sponsors that truly blew the event away. There was a photobooth there with a pink carpet.
There was also a henna tattoo artist, a t-shirt company who prints out your designs, a Mediterranean grill and a juice bar.
The Benefit girls from Macys were also there to touch up any makeup that was being defeated by the heat.
April gave away goodie bags for the first 200 RSVP’d people who signed in with her booth. They also gave you a ticket for giveaways that she was having at the event. She gave away 2 dress forms and a sewing machine. She even had her own geofilter for snapchat! Sadly I did not save it 😦
The goodie bags consisted of a Limited Edition planner from Passion Planner (on sale on their website), a freehand inkbox set from Inkbox, a snowglobe, stickers, coupons to SewingMachinePlus.com, some tools needed for sewing and deals at Regis Salon.
I just want to thank April for throwing this event for her followers. I am blessed to have been able to go. It was truly amazing! Congrats on 1 million subscribers April and congrats on your inspiration that has touched all of your followers. I cannot wait to see what in next in store or you. Keep it up girl!
